Litchfield Fire & Rescue News –There will be a First Responder class here in Litchfield at our Central Station starting in September. The cost of the course will be borne by the Department. We gained 5 great, new First Responders the last time we held the class and we would like to get at least that many again. Medical emergencies outnumber fire calls by more than two to one, between 250 and 300 per year. With only ten or so First Responders on our roster, the workload is demanding. More First Responders will lighten the load for each of them. Anyone interested in joining this group of dedicated people can drop by the station on the 1st, 3rd and 4th Tuesday evenings each month or on Saturday or Sunday mornings to get more information. On the Tuesdays, we are at the station from six–thirty to eight or nine PM and from eight to nine AM on Saturdays and Sundays. For more information, call Tina Gowell at 207–485–5565.
Once again, fundraising season is upon us. The Litchfield Firefighters Association holds three major fundraisers each year, and they all occur between August 20th and September 15th this year. We will be very busy during that stretch. Our 22nd annual Show and Shine car show willbe held at the Carrie Ricker School on August 20th starting at 8:00 AM. Look for our flyers at our local businesses for more details. Shine up the Old Tin Lizzy and bring her down to the Carrie Ricker School on the 16th. There are thirty–four classes so one is bound to fit your vehicle. More about our Litchfield Fair fundraiser and golf tournament in the August Sodalite.
