Notices:

12/11/23 FROM OUR FIRE CHIEF / EMA DIRECTOR
Tonight the high winds will likely cause power outages in this area. Litchfield EMA and Litchfield Fire & Rescue are ready. The heavy rains will be first and could cause flooding in low areas of roads. Please do not drive through flooded areas. Stay home if you can this evening and tonight. When power lines and trees are involved please stay clear, in many cases it is not possible to know if the power is out. Often we have seen energized lines hours after the circuit should have tripped due to damage. Litchfield Fire & Rescue, as well as Litchfield Public Works, will place cones and barricades to mark hazards and close off sections of road if necessary. Please do not go through coned off areas. We cannot remain at every downed tree or line, in a storm like this there are simply too many. Throughout the night and into the early hours of Thursday morning we will make a determination based on needs to open a warming
center or shelter. Carrie Ricker School is ready for that purpose of needed. I have communicated this morning with the facilities coordinator for RSU4 and we will work together if a shelter or warming center becomes necessary.
For questions or up to date information you can call me direct at 207-215-5090 or Litchfield Central Station at 207-600-1525, the voicemail forwards to my e-mail so I will respond if I miss
your call.
Please stay safe and take care of each other. In these situations your family, friends and neighbors are likely you best option, help each other as best you can and we will do our part to help you.
Thank you,
Chief Sherman
And we will add…while driving in stormy weather, watch out for the other guy, and don’t BE the other guy. Stay safe out there!
