Select Board Budget Workshop Tuesday, May 17th:

The Select Board will meet at the Town Office on Tuesday, May 17th at 2 pm for a workshop to review the FY23 draft budget and draft Town Warrant. The meeting is also available on Zoom at this link.

Town Office will be Closed for Memorial Day:

The Town Office will be Closed on Monday, May 30th, for Memorial Day. We will be opening back up at 8:30am on Tuesday, May 31st.

Red Zone Wireless Meet and Greet:

You may see a lot of red shirts around Town on Saturday, April 23, (a follow-on to April 9th) as representatives from Redzone Wireless will be knocking on doors to answer questions and inform residents about their broadband services. Their high speed broadband service is expected to be available to Litchfield residents as soon as June 2022. They have promised that if 250 people sign up by April 15th (no commitment required) on Redzonewireless.com – Redzone will donate $1,000 to the Litchfield Food Bank. We’re told they are about halfway to that mark.

Equipment Operator/Worker needed:

Wanted: Full time operator/worker (or option of snowplow operator/worker for this season). Excellent base wages, higher if you have more experience. Come join a hardworking close-knit team.  Interested individuals can stop by the town office to apply, or get an application here.

Swap Shop Open for the summer:

The Swap Shop at the transfer station is open for the summer.

Rt 197 Bridge:

The bridge is closed for the summer for construction. Here is a copy of the detour route. The bridge is scheduled to reopen by November 2022. For more information, as the construction starts, click on the link provided to get monthly construction updates.  https://www.maineturnpike.com/route197

Restore Sea-run Alewife fish capability to Cobbossee Stream. Good, bad, neutral?

The Department of Marine Resources is desiring to restore sea-run Alewives access to Cobbossee Stream. This one page summary from the Cobbossee Watershed District provides some background on their perspective.  An alternate view is offered by non-profit Upstream Cobbossee in this short video. If you are interested in finding out more, call the Town Office (268-4721) and we’ll provide you a point of contact for either side of the issue.

Transfer Station Passes Available at the Transfer Station: 

All Litchfield residents/property owners are required to have a yellow Transfer Station sticker to use the transfer station.  This sticker replaces the old blue one and must be attached to the lower right (passenger side) windshield.  Stickers may be picked up free of charge at the Transfer Station for each of your registered vehicles (show your registration).
