Working for an efficient, low cost, effective Transfer Station and a Greener Litchfield

The transfer station requires a pass for use. Town residents and property owners may obtain a pass free of charge at the transfer station (bring auto registration or other proof of residency or land ownership).

BRUSH and LEAVES are accepted after mud season and until the approach is too soft to drive on.

SWAP SHOP–Open April through September, weather permitting, Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm, and staffed by volunteers.

What items does the transfer station accept?

The transfer station provides recycling for paper, cans, glass, plastic and cardboard, as well as disposal of bulky items, certain hazardous wastes, and appliances, and electronics. Details are provided in the following handout.

ENFORCEMENT

Litchfield has a Solid Waste – Recycling Ordinance.  It will be enforced.
